Pre-Requisite Information:

In order for you to get the most out of the following computer classes, users should have the following experience:

  • Basic Computer Knowledge (opening/closing/saving files and programs)

  • Navigating Windows 10, Basic keyboarding and mouse skills, Printing

  • Basic email knowledge, including contacts, attachments, forwarding and replying to emails

Accounting Software Additional Pre-Requisites:

  • Understand basic bookkeeping concepts (Debits/Credits, Assets, Liability, Chart of Accounts, etc

Microsoft Word - 2019

$165 per level

Level 1: November  3, 2020.  9am - 4pm 
Participants learn to use Word and its various screens, toolbars and menus, by practicing document creation, editing, formatting, printing and various time-saving techniques.

Level 2: November  4, 2020.  9am - 4pm
Customizing your Word environment, such as toolbars, AutoCorrect and AutoText, numbering formats, creating styles and working with tables and columns.  Pre-requisite – Word Level 1

Level 3: Date TBA
Topics covered will include: customizing Word options, mail merge, labels and envelopes, advanced headers and footers, templates and sections. Prerequisite Word Level 2.

Microsoft Excel - 2019

$165 per level

Level 1: October 20, 2020.  9am - 4pm 
Learn to identify the elements of the Excel workspace, enter, edit and format data, create formulas and functions (SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT), and control print settings. Tons of timesavers to be had, even if you’ve been using Excel for years.

Level 2: October 27, 2020.  9am - 4pm
Learn more advanced workbook features including tables, graphs, multiple sheets, and linking data. Create VLOOKUP, IF and other functions. You must be familiar with the basics of Excel and have created basic formulas to benefit from this class or have taken Excel Level 1.

Level 3: Date TBA
Participants will learn advanced functions such as COUNTIF and SUMIF. You will also be introduced to pivot tables, filtering, cell protection, freezing panes, worksheet protection, subtotals and much more. Prerequisite- Excel level 2

Powerpoint - 2019

Explore the PowerPoint environment, create and format presentations, add text, images, objects, sound, and video as well as manipulate themes. You’ll learn about screen transitions and animations to display an interesting and  professional presentation. Dozens of shortcuts will be given out!

Sage Business Cloud Accounting

$249 per level

Level 1: November 6 - 8, 2020.  Friday 6pm - 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am - 5pm

Teaches you how to perform daily accounting tasks in the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll.  This course is intended for someone who will primarily be doing data entry.  This is the new Cloud based Sage, and not the desktop version.

Level 2: To be announced.  Friday 6pm - 9pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am - 5pm
Introduces some of the more advanced functions and capabilities of Sage 50 Accounting. It is designed for computer users who are already familiar with accounting with work experience in the basic operations of Sage 50 Premium Accounting and/or have completed Level 1.  This is the new Cloud based Sage, and not the desktop version.

Quickbooks Accounting

Intuit’s QuickBooks focuses on accounting fundamentals and teaches core concepts needed for typical daily business transactions. Practical hands-on exercises are used to provide the student with a valuable skill set that can be applied to everyday life. They include: setting up a company, entering transactions to the general ledger, generating reports and processing receivables and payables.

Level 2: Date TBA
A continuation of basic features for daily accounting tasks using QuickBooks and will introduce some of the more advanced functions and capabilities of QuickBooks. Students will look at how to create company files, and deal with more advanced tasks for receivables, payables, inventory and payroll.

Facebook 101

Learn how to navigate the Facebook platform to use Marketplace, Business Pages, Groups and Messenger to get the most out of your Facebook account.  

Pre-requisites: Basic Computer knowledge and an existing Facebook account.  Participants may bring their own devices if desired.

Intro to Google

November 9th & 12th, 2020  6:00 - 8:00pm

An overview of Google's most influential apps.  This 2 night session will focus on Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Drive.

Participants may bring their own devices if they desire.  

Pre-requisites:  Basic Computer knowledge

All registrants of our classes are required to be 18 years or older to attend, and agree that they meet all pre-requisites for the class listed.  Registration is not complete until payment is made in full. 

COVID-19 Screening:  We are asking anyone who is visiting our site in person to screen themselves for COVID-19 symptoms prior to entering our location, for the health and safety of all of our staff and learners. If you have any symptoms or have recently travelled, we ask that you DO NOT visit us in person at this time.

 

To keep everyone safe, we are limiting class sizes, providing sanitizer in all rooms and offices, and asking learners and staff to wear masks where social distancing isn't possible.

refund policy

Our classes and programs only run if we have sufficient registrations to cost-recover.  As a non-profit organization, we aim to provide learning opportunities that are a reasonable cost for learners, while providing quality instruction.  In order to ensure sufficient time to manage instructors, classroom bookings and materials, classes are non-refundable within 10 days of a class start date, except where:
 

- a course is cancelled or rescheduled

- a learner provides a letter from a health practitioner

 

A full refund will be given if withdrawal from a class takes place at least 10 days before the start of the class.   Class fees are transferrable to another person if you cannot attend for whatever reason.
